IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU!!!

EDD:7/7/10 (DH's b-day!)
Name:Marja
Age:30
Location:beside a lake in northern Ontario
Family (partner, other children, etc): DH-Rich DD-Fiona (7) and DS- Wyatt (5)
Gender preferences/inklings: I'll guess girl because of the timing of intercourse/ovulation.

Names you like: Don't know yet!

Birth Plans/Preferences: I'd love a homebirth but I live an hour from the hospital. My last birth was so fast, I'm not sure if we'll make it to the hospital or midwive's clinic in time, though. In any case, I want the kids to be there if they want.

Anything else you'd like to share: This is a very unexpected pregnancy, and it doesn't seem real yet. I came on here so I could 'talk' and process it all. I called my midwives today and felt like I was just acting a part. I'm pretty excited and happy.

A FEW QUESTIONS TO GET YOU STARTED:

1) WHAT ARE YOU CRAVING??

2) HOW ARE YOU FEELING??

3) WHAT ARE YOUR GUILTY PLEASURES??

What's your favorite dish?

What does your family do on weekends?

Who is your favorite author?

What's your sign?

Which lovely lake in Northern Ont do you live near? Have you lived there your whole life? Hullo from one Ontarian to another!

1) WHAT ARE YOU CRAVING??
no serious cravings, but I'd love to regularly indulge in dark chocolate and coffee

2) HOW ARE YOU FEELING??
GREAT! I really feel pretty good. I'm 33 weeks, and the only complaints I have are lots of contractions, some cramping and just being plain worn out after any kind of activity. (Such as getting out of bed in the morning)

3) WHAT ARE YOUR GUILTY PLEASURES??
yummy chocolatey and ice-creamy things

What's your favorite dish?
well-loaded homemade pizza

What does your family do on weekends?
we live on a lake, so we like to just stay home and enjoy our place. We like being outside and go camping a lot.

Who is your favorite author?
oh, that's tough. I love reading, am always reading. It's hard to pick a absolute favourite, so I'll pick two that I will read over and over--Barbara Kingsolver and George Eliot

What's your sign?
Pisces!

Which lovely lake in Northern Ont do you live near? Not telling exactly--but one of the ones close to Sudbury!

Have you lived there your whole life? not in this exact place, but I grew up within an hour of here. We bought this place and moved here 2 years ago.

What do you find the biggest challenge about teaching piano?

(I'm just curious as a fellow musician, I've never done any serious music teaching...plenty of science teaching though.)

The biggest challenge, no matter the age of the student, has to be trying to teach someone who isn't interested. It's a drag. I hate doing it and unfortunately I continue to do it with some kids, week after week! This is always because the parent wants the kid to continue the lessons, long after the child has explored piano to his satisfaction. I'm an unschooler, and I believe that people learn most easily and quickly and retain the information best when it is entirely self-directed. I also wonder to myself--what amazing things would this person be doing with his time/money if he didn't have to play the piano?

Ideally I would not have this problem, and only take students on a self-directed basis--more as a resource to help them learn what they want than a taskmaster that forces them to practice. I have had several teaching relationships like this and it is so fun and rewarding!

Sorry, I could probably write a book on this...I hope you didn't want tthe short answer because there isn't one! I imagine that you run into this issue teaching science or any subject as well.

Thanks for the reply, I agree that is definitely a very frustrating situation!
