will smith on oprah.... discipline

Will smith was on oprah promoting stuff. I watched because I was hopping he'd talk about homeschooling which they didnt. They did mention discipline for a minute. Will and jada don't use punishment. He was fairly eloquent when speaking and comes across as a pretty normal guy albeit a rich and famous guy. Anyways my husband and I both showed it to our parents to prove that normal people use gd and the kids can turn out nice. Our parents are uber mainstream and think will smith is great

Is there a clip of this anywhere? I'd love to see it (and show it to ILs)!

I really think he's awesome

I've had the honor of speaking with him personally (I sold him a modem for his dad when I worked at a computer store).

He's exactly like he appears. A super nice guy. My father used to work with his sister. I asked how she was and he was so excited that my father knew her and he even sent an autographed photo with a personal note to my sister at my request (she has a crush on him as much as I do).

I saw it too and it was awesome to hear someone so high profile talk about gentle discipline and for ooprah to say something to the effect of, "now that's good parenting". However, i could see the audience looking at him like he was crazy... Those same looks my family give to me

I didn't realize they homeschool their children though. Maybe it's because they're in the entertainment business but, nonetheless, it's good to know. Maybe telling my brothers that the fresh prince home schools will soften their reactions LOL

Glad to hear this! Years ago he wrote pro spanking lyrics in a song about his now-grown son. I was always iffy about him after that.
