what clothes w CD's?

Hi, I'm new on these boards and am so excited to have found them for CD support!

My question might seem a little silly but I am wondering what you do about clothes when your baby is wearing CDs. They are bulky and my 6 week old is still wearing onesies and I end up putting her in a 3-6 mo old size to accommodate the bulk. What kinds of things do you have your baby wear with the bulky diapers? I've also tried Tops and leg warmers, which work, but DD loves to kick the leg warmers off. Maybe I just have to wait until she grows into them(?). Anyway, I just wanted to see what you all do...

Thanks!!!

We just use clothes that are one size bigger than normal. Tops and babylegs work great too, but I had to wait a few months before they worked good. Oh, and I use lots of dresses.

We usually just have the clothes a size up. Especially overalls. Also, depending on her size, wearing 3-6 month onesies at 6 weeks isn't that abnormal. What brand are they? Gerber onesise run really, really small.

Nothing really diffrent I've not had any real issues putting clothes on over CDs I guess just size up if needed. Of course for me having a girl helps some I can do dresses if I like I tend to do onsies or like romper outfits and sleep N play for night time. I'm just now moving her into 3-6 month size at 10 weeks she still fits 0-3 but I like the fit of the 3-6 better in most cases and I do need the larger size for her nighttime diaper bulk.

They wear a lot of American Apparel (and only wear knits in general). We've never done onesies, just shirts. We don't do woven fabrics e.g., jeans, khakis and the like. They're too conforming IMO

My guy wears wool, so pants aren't an issue for us. I just put tees with them. I hate onesies.

My 8 mo is still wearing NB or 0-3 mo tees with his wool pants, so the sizing is really rather random.

As for babylegs - they didn't fit him for the longest time, they were far too big. Huggalug brand leggings are much better for little babies, although probably still too big for most NBs.

I don't use onesies usually. I like just plain t-shirts (though they are sort of hard to find).
Typically, we use fitted diapers with fleece pants (no other cover) and a t-shirt or long sleeved shirt. If we go out, we use pockets with any type of pants and shirt. I don't find the need to size up, but I don't use onesies or jeans (unless they look baggy and comfy).

eta- he was big in the beginning, so *everything* was sized up at 6 weeks! He's about average now, so fits in the "right" size.

overalls. dresses with stretchy leggings. wool with t-shirts. hated onesies. we tried upsizing in things like jeans but they NEVEr fit my chunky kids. So we waited until potty learning and thereafter.

Thanks for the responses! What wool or fleece pants/ covers do you like? I've seen a bunch, but they tend to be pricey, so I'd love to have recommendations before buying them.

Thanks!

I have a lot of leggings for DD. I can buy one or two sizes up, and just bunch up the legs a little. Capri leggings also work great because you can get a larger size to fit the waist, and they look just like regular length leggings! (I'm short so I buy capri and cropped pants for myself so I don't have to get them shortened!)

Now that it's warm, bubble rompers are perfect for fitting over DD's fluffy bootie.

Check on etsy.com for fleece and wool shorties - there are some adorable ones at GREAT prices there!

Either wool longies (or shorties/soaker) and a t-shirt or clothes sized up. It becomes less of a problem as they get bigger I find. I love wool, so for my next lo they will be in that as much as possible (plus its super comfy I think).

it's getting very warm down here. dd2 mostly wears onesies, but i'm searching for the rompers mentioned by pp, as the motherease covers stick out the sides of the onesies (they fit like granny panties!).
i like one piece outfits. i find they don't make the tush look as odd as pants/shorts do. dresses seem to bunch up on infants, though much better for toddlers+

I just ordered some fleece longies and shorties from this wahm. I haven't gotten them yet, but she was super to work with! Very nice, and didn't seem to mind that I changed my mind a bunch. She has reasonable prices.

You can also use any 100% polyester pants (maybe even 80% polyester). I've gotten some from thrift stores, and sometimes Old Navy has them on sale.

The fleece pants I have are just random pants that I got from people - Target brand for at least some of them.

The wool - some of what I have is handmade from individuals. I have a couple pairs from a WAHM that makes them, and I have a bunch from Kozy Wool. If you can get in on a co-op buy, they're a great price (under $20/pair), but the trade-off is that it takes 2 months to get them (they're made to order).

If you are looking for regular cotton clothes that work well with cds, I have heard that Hanna Anderson's generally have a more forgiving cut/roomier behind area.. I haven't tried them myself though. No HA around here.

I can knit so I knit my own using the picky pants pattern. Etsy is a good place, there's also hyenacart. Handknit woolies can be quite expensive if you're paying someone else to do it! Another option is interlock or recycled, recycled being the cheapest. You can find these on etsy or hyenacart as well. Also Spot's corner (on hyena cart) you can get some great longies that are used in great condition for a discount!

I found that Gymboree and Hanna Andersson had roomier pants. Also some Tommy Hilfiger and The Children's Place and Gap Kids. I just scoured 2nd hand stores for the brands I knew would fit better.
