I was just prescribed 50,000 units Vitamin D per week (I take one pill a week) from my midwife. Anyone else taking a vitamin D supplement? How much? My levels weren't even tested during my first pregnancy, so it took me by surprise. I do take a prenatal, but it only provides 30% of daily recommended allowance.

I take 4000 IU a day (so 28,000IU a week).
This is based on my levels via blood test and has been tweaked over the past year (I think I started at 5000 IU, got down to 3000 IU before I was preggo, then got bumped back up to 4000 based on my latest blood tests).
It was actually my PCP (an osteopath) who originally requested the testing and "prescribed" the supplement, but since I got pregnant my midwives have been in the loop (and they are happy PCP is handling it as apparently insurance doesn't have issue w/ the PCP requesting the vit d test but gives the midwives grief??? Go figure.)

I am also taking 4,000 iu a day (drops). I haven't yet gotten results from the bloodtest my mw took last week. But I was tested last June and found to be at the low end of normal (32). DS has tooth issues which I think can be attributed in part to my low Vit D levels when I was pregnant with him. I also had pre-eclampsia with him, and there is now some research (according to my mw) that low Vit. D can contribute to pre-e.

I tested my serum Vitamin D levels about 6 months ago and it was 30, which is sub-optimal. During winter I was taking 10,000 IU and now I take 5000 IU, in addition to the miniscule amount I get in my pre-natals. I'll be getting my Vitamin D level tested again soon. I've heard that you need 1000 IU/ 25 lbs of body weight for maintining after an optimum level has been reached.

My OB mentioned this as well, and he was really happy I was supplementing with D3. He said it helps in a lot of ways while pregnant, but he specifically mentioned pre-e.

I take 5000 IU a day in drop form. My acupuncturist recommended it after testing my blood and finding me deficient. I started before I conceived and have continued through out my pregnancy (I'm 39 weeks now). I'm not sure how much the Vitamin D has contributed but so far, the pregnancy has been a very healthy one!

I also take about 4-6000iu (mg?) a day. I take more if I am feeling run down or there's stuff (colds, flus) going around. I have taken as much as 10000/day but not since PG. I was tested early in my PG and my levels were on the lower side of normal, this is after taking about 6000-10000 plus it was closer to summer.
