Mint problems

I've grown mint for years with no problems at all. Just harvested some and there are brown spots all over the more mature leaves--newer shoots seem fine.

According to one online UK source, it looks like "rust," but I'm in the states (zone 6a) and don't even know if we have that here.

Any ideas?

If it were mine, I would say hail damage. But then, it hails here pretty frequently. Wind damage also sometimes looks like small spots, and frost damage can look like that too. The damage never "heals" so you have to consider the weather since the plant grew leaves.

Thanks, no hail here. I thought of frost initially, because we did have a few nights of freeze. Now that I look more closely at the rust photos I realize it doesn't really look like that and since we've never had that problem before, I'm back to the frost damage idea.

I cut all the damaged leaves off--I guess we'll see what happens!
