Question for those who have had Mirena

Did you have any side effects the first day or so after insertion?

I'm feeling some of the same side effects I get from my period- achy joints and legs, slightly feverish feeling.

I'm trying to figure out if it's related to the Mirena or not, and if so, if it's normal. I've also been having allergy/sinus problems for the past day or two, so maybe it's related to that, instead.

It's nothing really bad. Just a general bleh feeling. I had no pain with insertion at all, I honestly barely knew she did it.

Yes, I felt pretty sick after having mine in too. I also spotted for many months, much longer than they said I would.

I'm feeling much better today than yesterday. I hope I don't keep spotting for a long time. I figure there's a good chance I'll hate it and have it removed, but it didn't hurt to put it in, and insurance paid for it, so if I have to have it removed...oh well!

I felt bleh from the moment I had it inserted til the moment I had it taken out (about 6mths later). The insertion for me was quite painful, then afterwards I had alot of pelvic pain, crampiness, headaches, lower back aches, mood swings, NO libido, and elevated BP. I only spotted for a few days though. Anyway, I think it's a good option for some women, obviously not for me. Good luck!

Yep- since it's progesterone only

I've had no problems... thought I would b/c I'm very intune with my body and hormonal cycle. I think it helped that I had it placed before my cycles returned. Usually I would get my period around 14 months pp. This time I didn't get a period till ab 21 months pp (and had every sign of ovulation but mittzleschmirtz). I had another period ab 6 wks later (which I just finished... no signs of ovulation this time).
