What is a good brand of fish sauce? The kind I got was really cheap at the market, but I have no idea if it has metals or anything in it....

What do you use?

I've used thai kitchen before, the bottle in the kitchen is squid, (which is ironic, since it's anchovy only, no squids or shrimp), I know golden boy is good too.

I don't worry about heavy metals in them, because usually they are made from anchovies, which are smaller fish, and much lower down the food chain than say, tuna, and thusly, and not very contaminated.

I'd look for one which has just three or four ingrediants: anchovies, salt, water, and sugar. Unfortunately, it seems that you can either get sugar or preservatives, as a preservative. It's not sweet, so I figure it isn't a lot of sugar and choose that.

The squid brand is good, in Vietnamese circles the fish sauces from Phu Quoc Island are considered some of the best, so look for Phu Quoc on the label.
