another name thread

I am expecting twins. If we have girl/girl (not finding out), how does Eve and Ava sound/look? The both mean life (Ava is a variant of Eve) I don't want names that start with the same letter, or rhyme. I like that they have the same meaning, have same number of letters and share similiar spelling structure. But wondering if they sound different enough or are still pretty matchy-matchy.

honestly, i think they sound too much like the same name (which really, they are.) both beautiful, tho.

i wouldn't use them cause they are too similar....but both pretty.

I agree with the PPs... they really are too alike.

Here is a little site that has "matchy" names for twins.. I really like these from that link:

Eve and Zoe
Both mean "life", but Eve is Hebrew and Zoë is Greek.

Margaret and Pearl
Margaret means "pearl" in Greek.

Ezra and Ophelia
Both mean "help", but Ezra is Hebrew and Ophelia is Greek.

Too much alike and Ava is wildly popular. From this chart.. you can see it is the fifth most popular name in The United States.

Here's some ones I like.....

Della Delia Dolores

Millicent Jillian Lillian

Willa Cally Hally

Lana Lola Layla

Amy Anne Ada

Andrea Adrian Alice

I think it would be way too confusing to have an Eve and an Ava. I mix up my 3 boys' names constantly, and they aren't even very similar except that they end in a N sound.

They are pretty names, though, and I would probably pick the one I like the most and then find another girl name that doesn't sound so similar (but still sounds good together).

Ok, I figured that's what others might think. I like the names but not *that* much. I think I mostly like the spelling similarities. Oh well. I've got plenty of other names I like. Thanks for the replies!

I can't think of anything more fun than getting to name girl/girl twins... except maybe dressing them alike.

Enjoy this precious time in your life!

Apparently I'm in the minority, but I like Eve and Ava together. Though I do agree that Ava is hugely popular right now.
