Im being stalked...

by the hospital

They scheduled me for an induction on Wednesday. I didnt want to fight with the doc so I said fine whatever. I was 40+2on Wednesday. I didnt get a chance to call in yesterday and tell them I wasnt coming in. So what do they do? They call me today!!

H: "Can you come in right now for your induction?" Me:"Um, No."
H:"When can you come in?"
Me:"Ive decided not to be induced. Im a VBAC mother and not taking any chances."
H:"OK, Let me go talk to a doctor about that."
Me:"I dont know why you need to do that...Im not coming in either way."
H:"Ok then." ~Click~

The doc just kind of said some things that threw me off like:
*inserting the foley cath for dilation (Im already at 4cm its not going to do anything for me)
*Starting me at 2 on pit (we all know pit is a no-no and if its going to be used it needs to be the least possible)
*wanting to up the pit every 30 min (i dont think so!)
My doc, if he was going to be there would have allowed me to negotiate any induction methods. However, I dont feel another doc would have. Like starting me on the lowest pit possible and only upping every 1hr based on progress or lack there of.

I have my doula coming over tomorrow to work on some induction methods with me. Hubby and I have been copulating *lol* and hes been doing the pressure points on my feet and hands. My mother has also done them (shes a nail tech). I had some dandy contrax while at wal*mart the other day. And using my ball been sitting and bouncing. Been doing the RRL and EPO since week 34.

Just thought it was funny and would share. Anyone have any other induction ideas? Im 40+3 today.

I think babe will come when its ready. (I was induced for post-dates. My daughter was born at 42w2d. . .so anything before that is just normal timing to me!)

Good for you for standing your ground!

Sounds like you are well informed and pretty well empowered too! Yay for you.

If the hospital calls again, maybe you could say something like: "I have not yet consented to induction, and do not consent at this time. If I decide that I am willing to be induced, I will let my doctor know immediately. In the meantime, please do not call me again."

Good luck! Sounds also like you are well on your way to labor already....won't be long now

Great job mama! Keep putting them off!

GOOD FOR YOU MAMA!!!!!

Way to stick to your plan and tell them NO!

Do you have caller ID? I'd ignore their calls! And just keep up what you're doing....long long walks, followed by sex, sitting on a ball, and it sounds like those pressure points are great!

Sending you labor vibes!!!

You've got big balls. I like it!
FWIW, I went 17 days post dates with baby3, second hbac. He came, when he was good and ready.
Stay strong !

If they call again - I would just say I'm going to follow up with _my_ doctor to discuss my options. Your doc may want you to come in for a NST this week and a usual check of bp & urine. If you start to hear grumblings just ask how comfortable your doc is with continuing to until you go into labor, especially if your numbers come back normal.

Docs get nervous and sometimes they push their experiences and fears onto us in trying to control for outcomes (healthy mom/healthy baby). It stinks but again they've seen the gamet of great outcomes and the worse, and they're only human after all.

I went 42w with mine and refused an induction 2x, opted the 3rd time (I was done!) and it was on my terms and my way. Turns out I was in labor when I checked in.

Good Luck!!

Yes! I agree ! I also think that you are amazing, I admire your strength (and obvious good sense). Keep doing what you are doing. I might add if the hospital (or a doctor) keeps calling you could refer to the studies showing the dangers of inducing for VBAC. The risks of that far outweigh going postdates, IMHO. Ask them for their evidence, ask them to quote the study.
You are going to do great, go Mama!

My mom loves to remind me that I was born at 43 weeks gestation. Waiting can be hard (especially for doctors), but the baby will come out when it's ready.

41w+5days=8lbs baby girl

hang in there. hopefully you've already had your vbac. i just wanted to add that the OB only wanted to let me go until 39 weeks (left him) - but i let my baby come when she was ready and she wasn't even big, they had been scaring me that she was going to be HUGE because i was choosing to go overtime. she was barely 8lbs at almost 42 weeks so i think their "estimated due date" was off and if i had followed recommendations she would have been tiny at 39 weeks...mothers know best! i'm praying that you already had your vbac the way you wanted!

I am so in your boat girl. My Dr. wants to push a c-section or induction because I will hit 40 weeks this Sat. The office called to scheduale the induction date but I blew off the call = ) .

I am doing all the same induction tricks that you mentioned. Also make sure you get some good nipple play in there. I got some contractions that way. I just have to keep reminding my self to let my baby come when she is good and ready = )
Good Luck!!!!

I felt really overjoyed when my third c-section baby was born, too. And then, as time went on, it faded into this nagging disappointment and then morphed to join the resent I had for my first two and I find myself dreaming about the day when I actually GIVE BIRTH to a baby without having it cut from my body. I hope she doesn't join the resent club with me; it's not a fun place to be!

You're in my thoughts, Coconut! And congrats on Miss D!
