We have a neighbor who spends a lot of time and energy on his lawn. He lives across the road from us and down a bit, so he's not really right on top of our property, but he's taken it as his mission to conquer all weeds and bugs, and sprays chemicals liberally all over his property, all over the vacant property directly across the road from us, and along both sides of the whole road so nothing will land on his pretty lawn.
I watched him spraying two days ago, and yesterday found one of our two replacement hens dead, and the other very weak- she was dead this morning in spite of our best efforts.
The neighbor refuses to tell me what chemical he is spraying, and does not listen when he is asked not to spray the roadway in front of our house. Other than never letting my hens out, is there anything I can do to protect them? We do usually pen them far away from the road if we know he has sprayed, but they are much happier when they free range.
