So Wednesday, DS went to a homeopath, who checked him over and we talked about his eczema and stuff. Turns out that the redness around his anus is actually a food-sensitivity rash, and not just normal skin coloration like I thought it was (so I didn't even think to question it or anything). I decided to cut eggs and strawberries. But now I'm really thinking that eggs are the main culprit.
At the time of the appointment, I'd been off eggs for a few days, and his skin was looking nice. Homeopath was surprised when I told her that it was a "good" day for his eczema though, b/c apparently it still looked really bad to her.
Anyway, so I continued stopping eggs and also stopped strawberries. The rash on his bottom was fading fast -- faster than his face was clearing up -- so it was the first noticeable thing that made me realize I might be doing something right. But Thursday evening, DH brought home a piece of lemon pie. He stuck it in the freezer and then I ate it sometime yesterday. This morning, DS woke up and the bottom rash had returned, and his face looked WAY worse. I was trying to rack my brain wondering what I ate. Was it the sweet potato fries? No... I ate those after he went to bed and he hadn't nursed since I ate them. Wait... what's in that pie? I bet there are eggs in that pie. And I looked up the pie and sure enough, it has eggs in it.
So now I really AM off eggs. After a few days of clear-up, I may try strawberries, b/c now that I've "found" the eggs, I am no longer as suspicious of strawberries as I once was. And really, the strawberries only came into thought b/c for a few days, DD and I had been eating PB&J and her jelly was strawberry and my jelly was blueberry.
But anyway. I'm just glad I found something to eliminate that is having some noticeable positive effect, and a fast effect at that.
