starting from scratch-- what's your all-time favorite diaper??

what is your absolute all-time favorite not bum genius cloth diaper?

i have boiled, vinegared, bleached, and washed washed washed dd's dipes and they still stink. i'm afraid to put them back on her. dp and i are really tempted to just start over. but i'm overwhelmed. we picked the bg b/c someone i know said they were great. we got a few and they seemed easy and efficient and good enough, so we got more. our whole stash is only 12 dipes though. but between the stink, the yeast, the lousy velcro, and our new desire for a natural fiber diaper, i'm looking to change it up.

should we get a few different ones? how do people feel about bamboo vs. hemp? i was just reading here someone said bamboo is actually rayon, and really processed?

dd is 10 mo and we've only been at this cloth diapering thing for about 8 of those months, so i'm a novice in search of direction....

oh, and i've seen people say they sold off dipes... where do you do this?

My favorites hands down are Green Acre Designs pockets (both the bamboo velour and fleece inners, but we have mainly fleece). The fit is great on my chunky guy and depending on what you stuff with, can be super trim for day or super absorbent for night.

For a natural fiber fitted, I love bamboozles with wool covers-Disana is my favorite.

For non-bamboo natural fibers, I've only used prefolds, so no help there if you are wanting something different. Again, with wool covers.

You can sell off dipes on diaperswappers.com

GMD Prefolds with Imse Vimse wool covers. Thirsties Duo wraps are my second favorite cover.

Im with Chamomilegirl. I like the ease of washing prefolds (and 100% natural cotton- either regular or organic) and love wool and thirsties covers. I haven't used the new duo's but I have the old ones and they hold up well. You can get them used on Diaperswappers.

Prefolds and flats. I've tried everything, and those are my favorite. They are affordable, natural fiber, and easy to wash and dry. I love Dappi nylon covers over a pinned flat or prefold--trim and cooler than PUL. I didn't get much of a chance to try wool with my last baby (she's 5.5 now), but will with the one we are currently TTC.

Ha. Well I was going to say that my fave diaper is the BG organic OS AIO w/ snaps. ...my 2nd would be a combo of fitteds and snappied prefolds w/ wool.

gotta go with the fuzzi bunz. i tried more than a dozen different kinds with ds2 and besides beccaottoms ut aio they were my favorite. so this time around i was able to get more than 2 dozen fb's for $6 shipped each.

I am loving the Fuzzi Bunz one size diaper. Snaps, not aplix, nice material inside, and they're one size so they'll fit for a long time.

I would try prefolds - they wash up well, IMO, and cause the least amount of issues.

That said, I was going to answer Bum Genius Organic snap AIO's before I read your post - but I do not love the BG pockets. The organic BG's are all cotton inner, and don't have the repelling/build-up/stink issues like the synthetic inners.

I only use natural fibers in my dipes. As it is we sometimes have smell issues, but an extra soak/rinse takes care of it.

My all-time fave is Dream-Eze fitted. We have a dozen of them in his current size, and I love them. We had 3 in the previous size (Sm) and they were our go-to dipe, so when it came time to size up, I bought a bunch. We use wool over them.

I'm no help because I'm very happy with our microfiber inserts (had a brief bout with stink but it seems to have disappeared after switching to Rockin Green detergent).

I'd spend some time hanging around on the Diaperswappers general chat board. Those ladies know *everything there is to know* about cloth diapering. I bet they'll have some good suggestions for you. (The board is extremely active, too - you can get answers to your questions in real time.)

I like goodmamas with Imse Vimse covers. They'd be a good investment at 10mos, they'd fit through potty training and then you could sell them on. I also very much like the BG Organic AIOs and the Imse Vimse AIOs with snaps. We also had stink issues with BG pockets, I finally got fed up with it and now we only use natural fibers (although there's a strip of fleece in the IV AIOs but somehow it doesn't stink) and it's much better.

I sold my BGs on craigslist, depending on what shape yours are in you can get 1/3 to 1/2 of retail price. List them as a lot of 12 or whatever, price them well, and you'll be shot of them in a few days.

hemp can stiffen with time..

Another vote for the BG organic all in one, snap version. I wish we had our whole stash of these.

E-mail Karen

at GMD for her laundering write-up. There still may be hope. Other than that for dipes I wouldn't mess with anything that wasn't 100 percent cotton. Covers, I love wool, but anything cheap that will hold it in is good. PM me if you want as I am selling about half of my Coolababy dipes that make fabo covers and are great colors. I just don't need 20.

My faves are Crickett's hemp fitteds with wool covers (aristocrats soaker for night time).

I love my prefolds. Easy to clean and dry and never have a stink issue that a second rinse won't get out. I have Thirsties duos (love them so far), Bummies SWW, Proraps, and Motherease airflows (they all have their pluses and minuses, but I'm pretty happy with all of them). Aristocrats soaker at night.

I have a few older Fuzzi Bunz bought here from a mom. I like the fit but they are the only dipes I have that stink and I can't get it out. This is the fleece lining, not the inserts.
