Let down itches

and it's really hard to scratch the inside of my breasts. I've turned my breasts bright pink (temporarily thank goodness) in attempting to scratch away the surface itch.

Any btdt solutions?

Anyone know if hydrocortisone cream is counter indicated near the nipples? I'm taking a safe-for-breastfeeding antihistamine on occasion because of hayfever that doesn't seem to affect the itchiness of let down.

This is a fairly recent development, just in the past couple of months and only really bad in the past couple of weeks.

I am no help but this topic caught my eye because I lightly scratch my breast to induce letdown. No idea why I started doing this but it works... I hope you can find relief!

Are you sure its not thrush?

Nope. Let me Google...

Okay, yes, sure it isn't thrush.

It's itchy like a bug bite not burning and dd has no symptoms at all. I also am more itchy right before nursing than during nursing and more itchy during nursing than after. Whereas what I'm reading about thrush-related yeast indicates that things are worse during and after feeding.

Hm. Well im not much help then. Mine hurts like my nipple is in a vice and I just take one finger and push in all the way (if that makes sense) and it helps. When my nipple does itch, I twist it to get minimal relief on the inside.

Yep. Thrush.

I'm still not having pain, but just found out that the shiny pinkness I thought was caused by twiddling is a thrush symptom.

She's also started getting a white coating on her tongue.

I am sooooooo mad that I didn't ask about the redness when it started MONTHS ago. Because it turns out that yeast also causes tooth decay.

So busy trying to fight her to get her teeth brushed and she wouldn't even have all the cavities if we'd done GV months ago.

Grrrrrrrrr
