Is it b/c much of the CP going around now is from shingles or folks who get cp after getting the varicella vax? Any other ideas?
My 4 y/o dd just had CP. She got it from another homeschooling kid who we made a playdate w. BUT, last year I took her to someone from MDC whose kids had the pox, and nothing happened (and, foo, I drove an hour, too). I was delighted and a bit surprised when, at the very end of 14 days, she sprouted pox. (This was esp. surprising since the other girl was only 3 and didn't want to share musical instruments or lollipops, and they just played house together for an hour or so!)
So I posted on here and my local homeschooling group and we had playdates w. such nice people. 5 different families came over. They kids shared lollipops and recorders/harmonicas, and some even touched her pox. I just heard from the last of the mamas, and not one of the kids got it (and one of those poor women drove 3 hours to get here b/c there are no pox by here and she's been looking for several years).
She was def. still contagious. She sprouted them Friday night, and all the playdates were Monday or Tuesday. She kept getting pox after that, and now, 18 days later, is at the very end of them fading.
I would love some input here. Perhaps we can help others to help get/give chicken pox. Thanks!
