16 week old, poop is brown but not seedy

It's been going on for a couple of weeks now. At first I just thought he had diarrhea from a stomach bug, but it's still happening.

His poop used to be seedy, and it is still the same color, just runnier and not seedy at all.

Oversupply does make sense, he and I have a lot of the signs - but he's not in a lot of pain or anything.

I've been block feeding for several days but it hasn't changed the poop.

I don't think you really need to worry - if he doesn't have a rash, isn't in any discomfort, and continues to gain weight, variations in poop aren't necessarily a cause for concern. If there is a great deal of mucus in the poop, however - like it's slimy, not just runny, you could take him to a doctor just to be on the safe side. But in the absence of mucus, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks. So, what could mucus mean? I do have a well-baby visit coming up this week, hopefully he'll poop while we're there.

Mucus means that some part of the intestinal tract is irritated... which could be caused by anything from a gut flora imbalance to a virus to a mild reaction to something in your diet or something he licked off his hand. In all likelihood, your doctor will not be concerned, but it will be much more reassuring to hear that from a doctor than from random people on the internet

If you feel you need to do *something*, baby probiotics are always a good idea. The "Udo's Blend" ones are good. And please don't stop your baby from stuffing his hands in his mouth after he touches stuff - it's important for them to introduce bacteria from their environment to their guts in that way.

My guess is that there's nothing wrong - your baby's gut is just adjusting to something, and it's working as it should.

Okay, so I just changed his diaper and it is just liquidy, not mucusy - like, not stringy or clingy like mucus.

So maybe it's just fine - I thought it was supposed to always be seedy [and it always was until a couple weeks ago]?

My daughter's poop used to be seedy, now it's just yellow-brown. Don't worry about it
