how to clean the tub?

How do you keep your tub mildew free without a). using harsh chemical cleaners or b). cleaning it all the time
I hate cleaning the tub, it is my least favorite job, so any pointers how to get it done efficiently and well?
Thanks!

Weekly, we use vinegar, but if it gets a little icky,we will use some bleach...I know, it's stinky and kind of harsh, but it works really well

I just use baking soda but I was using a tooth brush to clean the corners and yah...that's annoying I actually just bought a dish brush at Target that has a triangle head with a scrubby on the sponge and its not so hard that it will scratch the tub. It works *really* great and gets the job done much quicker.

I moisten the tub, sprinkle on a genrous amount of backing soda, then just use a cloth to wipe/scrub it down (think paste more so than mixture). I'd like to say I do this monthly, but really it's probably every-other month. Works well.

When I'm feeling ambitious, I keep a towel on the back of the door and wipe down the metal parts, the window, and sometimes the tub after the shower (20 second job that keeps the tub looking newly cleaned for a long time)

Thanks everyone. I tried the baking soda and a little bit of bleach, and it did make it nice and white. Sometimes the best cleaning supplies are the cheapest.

I do like eirual does. Having a wet tub, wet cloth and dry baking soda really makes it easy to clean. If you're having problems with it getting dirty more frequently than you want to clean it, try keeping a spray bottle of diluted vinegar nearby and giving it a few quick spritzes every once in a while.
Also, it could be that the soap you're using is leaving a film. I've noticed that since I'm hypersensitive to detergents and SLS that I have to use Dr. Bronner's and other simpler types of body cleaning products and a nice bonus is they don't leave any sort of residue behind.
