Are you a sitcom or a drama or a "Discovery Channel" kind of person?

Dh and I were talking about this recently. He prefers to watch either educational shows or sitcoms. He loves Seinfeld. I, on the other hand, watch dramas, like Law and Order, West Wing, CSI. We both watch Survivor. So is this a normal trend? Do guys tend to like sitcoms? Are women more likely to watch dramas? What's your tv pleasure?

We don't have cable, as the last thing we need is more excuses to watch TV. But I like documentaries on PBS the most, as does dh. I also like things like CSI and Law and Order, but don't tell anyone. Fortunately I almost never have time to watch them.

I have never sat through one of those reality TV shows. About 3 minutes of the original Survivor was enough to last me a lifetime.

DH and I both like dramas - CSI, Law & Order(s), Carnivale, West Wing - as well as documentaries. The only comedy that we ever watch is the Simpsons or Adult Swim (which is Cartoon Network at night.) Oh, and The Daily Show. I love The Daily Show. However, when it comes to picking movies, DH prefers comedies and I prefer drama, action, horror, or dark comedy. My theory is this: DH works all day, comes home, and turns on the tv. He needs something to relax him, so comedy is what he chooses. I, on the other hand, stay at home with a baby and a non-verbal toddler. I turn on the tv, and I need some intellectual stimulation, so I choose something more cerebral. But that's just us; I don't mean to generalize here.

Oh, I just remembered...DH loves The Chappelle Show, South Park, Insomniac, etc. He doesn't watch sitcoms, but yeah, I think he does prefer comedy on tv.

I thought this was going to be a personality quiz.

Dh likes RealTV, COPS, stuff like that. We both watch While you were out and What not to wear, and I watch nothing else.

I'm not sure what that says about us. I spend my tv viewing time here instead.

I think the comment about dh needing something light to zone out to after a stressful day at work is probably accurate. Normally the weather channel is on if he is watching during the day and has control of the remote. Sometimes it's cable news or a documentary. The sitcoms are basically what he falls asleep to.

I think I became a drama junkie during my second pregnancy when I had insomnia and would lie awake for hours watching Law and Order reruns.

We are non-fiction junkies here in my house! Discovery Channel, History Channel, Weather Channel, Food TV, HGTV...I think the only drama we watch is on the Sci-Fi Channel :LOL
This includes 10 year old DS. However, DS does like to get a fix of Cartoon Network once or twice a week.

I tend to watch alot of reality tv and dramadies, while dh likes to watch the Discovery channel/sports and true life drama like CSI. We very rarely watch tv together except for Survivor. We both love that! :LOL
