Things I want to Remember...(fluffy)

I was writing in DD's baby book this morning trying to remember exactly when she did what (I figure if I get the date give or take a few days it is still true ) anyway, it occurred to me that there are so many little things that I am so scared of forgetting. They are the things that I cannot or could not seem capture on tape or film (no matter how hard I try), but fill my heart with so much love.

the way she smiles up at me while nursing
her newborn sleep grins
the smell of her little baby sweaty head (gross I know )
the feeling of her little hands around my neck when we are in the pool

There are so many others. I am in a sappy mood, forgive me...anyone else have any to share?

the way her breath smells.

The dimples...everywhere. On his hands, even when his hands are closed over something, still dimples. Back of his elbow, knee, cottage cheese bum...

How soft his skin is under his diaper! His bum and back, it's all so velvety soft.

When I kiss his head, his hair feels like cotton candy on my lips.

His toothless, gummy grin. How he can't yawn without making a big noise!

How powerful it is to me, when he wakes up from a long nap, my milk lets down in anticipation.

I'm trying to savour every moment. This is our last baby.

the tired eyes (the ones that let me know he needs my help to go to sleep)
the big gummy grin he gives me when DH brings him to bed before bedtime
the sleep fighting talk between sips of milk (not cries, it's adorable)
the sighs and snuggles when he's sleeping
wearing him everywhere

The first day she learned to give me hugs back!

Playing peekaboo during nursies, she always laughs.

Her little sweet breath smell and her chubby kissable cheeks...

There are so many more, she'll be 1 in a week so I'm especially sentimental and sappy!! Thanks for this thread

Way way too many things. Here are a few off the top of my head:

The way he looked nursing when he was a newborn. He always looked FURIOUS which really upset me at the time but which is funny in hindsight. He'd squeeze one eye shut really tight and pop the other one open really wide and his whole face would turn bright red.

How he looked when he first started pulling up to standing. He would do a sort of reverse plie, knees pointed directly out to either side, one hand held out for balance, one on whatever he was pulling up on. And when he got to a standing position, he would just look SO pleased with himself.

The way he smiles when he steals my glasses. He always looks right at me and gives me this smile like, hey mom, I love you!

His fluffy fluffy baby hair.

The sleepy cat noises (think a tired kitten) he makes right before falling asleep.

The way he used to latch onto my chin sometimes. Also, his baby kisses... they're a little scary because of all of his teeth, but hilarious.

His furry little ears and the fur on his back- too fine to get on camera, but so long and cute! I've heard that some babies are born with a little extra hair, but neither of my older kids had this. And his darker baby sideburns. Not sure if all this hair is the newborn "lanugo" or if he just takes after his daddy ;P.

his soft little sighs
the way he sort of yells while he yawns (sometimes it's so loud it surprises my kids)
the little animal-like noises he makes

cute little baby stretches
the smiles when she sees my face
those little newborn baby noises, that my toddler imitates quite well
sweet baby breath
nursing smiles

How his breath smells like cookies, and his farts can clear a room, LOL.

His funny spiky hair.

How he didn't have eyelashes until his week one of his second month, then they got long, fast.

He has the saddest, sad face ever.

I think he'll help you remember that one for many years to come.

what a lovely thread!!

I will always remember her newborn smiles, the way she sleeps on her side with the lower arm pointing up, her milky breath, the way she used to latch on when she was really little and all instincts, her smily eyes, the first giggles, the first babytalks, when she is frustrated she will complain loudly and it sounds like a little bark

I don't have a baby book but I think that is a great idea!!!

I had already forgotten her little furry ears At the time I remember hoping the hair would fall out fast, but when I read this I longed for it!

we had furry ears here too - I called him my little bear. The fur is gone now.
Oh, the newborn hair - so soft and delicate, it is changing now...
