DS has croup, should we still be in "sick mode?"

ds (13 months) hasnt gone to the doctor yet, but im so positive its croup (ive worked w/ infants w/ croup before so i just *know*) so im treating it as such ...

anyways ... how long do you have you LO in "sick mode?" like, we have stayed indoors w/ no rough playing for the last two days. this is the third day and my 3 year old niece is here (live w/ the in laws, MIL watches her, but she wants to play with the baby) ... do i let them play? he still has a pretty mean cough, and i know its contagious but MIL could care less. do i barricade ourselves in our studio? or let them play together (they are both wild kids)?

this would be no problem if we had our own place, but theres no way to avoid the 3 year old ... help!

eta: ds had fever over the weekend and this is his first fever free day

Other than being contagious, which I think he still is, if he's feeling fine, let him do what he wants. My ds had croup last year and this year, and other than steam when he was coughing, we really don't do much about it because he's fine the rest of the time.
