ds has croup, should we still be in "sick mode?"

(X posted in heath and healing) but i need advice asap:

ds (13 months) hasnt gone to the doctor yet, but im so positive its croup (ive worked w/ infants w/ croup before so i just *know*) so im treating it as such ...

anyways ... how long do you have you LO in "sick mode?" like, we have stayed indoors w/ no rough playing for the last two days. this is the third day and my 3 year old niece is here (live w/ the in laws, MIL watches her, but she wants to play with the baby) ... do i let them play? he still has a pretty mean cough, and i know its contagious but MIL could care less. do i barricade ourselves in our studio? or let them play together (they are both wild kids)?

this would be no problem if we had our own place, but theres no way to avoid the 3 year old ... help!

also, he had a fever over the weekend, so today is his first fever free day

I'd stay in sick mode maybe one or two more days. Not as much for your niece (but for her too) but because your son is a little immune compromised and you don't him moving on to another illness.

It'd depend on how your lo is feeling. If he's feeling much better, and just coughing, I'd let'm play. But if he's still coughing horribly and miserable, certainly stay in sick mode. DS2 has had croup twice now in as many months. Its a pita and just absolutely no fun!!
