I think my babywearing days are over

I'm so bummed about this. I love carrying DD but lately everytime I wear her in the Ergo my shoulder and back hurts afterward. Sometimes for a couple of days. Maybe DD's length and weight is just too much for me now

How old is your baby?

2 years old, nearly 29 lbs and 2'10. She loves being carried and I love it too but I also want to remain back problem free for as long as possible. Thanks for the hug.

What about a woven wrap that's wrapped strapless? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YblI_...eature=related

Maybe it'd spread the weight differently?

Probably nothing's going to be more comfy than an ergo for a bigger baby, though.

Really? I'm so very out of shape, and my baby is not that big, but a wraps seems much more comfy than an ergo.

OP, Maybe you can try a wrap out someplace and see if it's better for you?

Yeah? Probably depends on how good you are at tying it? I find my ergo better for my 30 lb almost-3-yr-old, but I'll admit I haven't tried the wrap a lot w/him.

Lots of people still wear at that age. Another carrier is definitely worth trying. The Ergo has a lower body panel on it allowing your toddler's weight to shift your center of gravity more. A wrap or SSC designed more for a toddler would probably be more comfortable. A few brands designed more for toddlers are the Oh Snap, Boba, and Toddler Patapum, but there are more out there too.

If your toddler isn't done being worn, I would definitely try to find a better carrier. Might as well wear them for as long as you can right?! Good luck!
