GBS + Urine?

I just got a call from my mw and my last urine sample had gbs in it. She's calling me in a script but, I am concerned. I was gbs+ for my last delivery and it was my understanding it wouldn't necessarily be the case this time. Is there any risk for my baby at this point?

If there's gbs in your urine you have a heavy colonization in your vagina. Best to treat now, get the levels lower.

yep. i too have GBS in the urine this pregnancy. it means you are systemically colonized. the oral antibiotics will kill enough of it to prevent the bad things that can happen in the pregnancy like PROM and the bacteria eating away at the placenta. this is a fairly new protocol for GBS in urine because studes just came out proving it's harmful effects in pregnancy. you will also have to have IV antibiotics in labor.

GBS+ urine usually indicates heavy colonization and a GBS UTI carries it's own risks outside of labor and birth. Best to treat.
Anecodtally, I had a GBS UTI in 2003. I have gone on to have three more pregnancies and only one more asymptomatic UTI and healthy babies.
You will now be considered GBS+ for this and any future pregnancies.
