How's my NB stash??

Looks like I might be ready! Here's what I've got...

21 Bummis prefold
3 Bummies nb covers
1 wool nb cover
1 Thirsties x-small cover
2 Kissas fleece size 0 cover
2 o.s. Fuzzibuns pocket diaper
2 o.s. Bumgenius pocket diaper
3 hemp doublers

50 cloth wipes

How does this sound?? Any advise?

Looking at your list it appears you're planning to use mostly prefolds. From what I remember about those early days, you'll want/need more covers. I went through a lot more covers then I imagined. Bumpy covers were my favorite.

I'm kinda just using what I've been given and going to go from there. If I end up hating prefolds I'll invest in pockets, if I love prefolds I'll buy more.

I'll get more covers. Seems like it's best to get a variety of brands and pick the one that works best.

I'd get at least one of the next size up cover also. Don't stick with all NB/XS. You may find that they don't fit right, or that he/she outgrows them quickly.

Conversely, we wound up having to use preemie covers with my little guy for the first 6 weeks or so, because even the NB covers didn't fit (and he was 8 lbs).

Pins? Snappis?

And that looks like you'll be doing laundry probably every day to day and a half at first. A NB needs to be changed a LOT.

I think the amount of covers is fine. Anything that you buy from now on though I would get in size sm, not nb. If you can afford it, I'd get some extra prefolds or pockets or something. So when life gets hectic, you don't have to worry about washing as often. Though with my first, I washed diapers everyday almost and it was fine.

I think that looks good. I would get some size small stuff instead of anymore newborn if you are going to add anything.
I love prefolds and Thirsties covers! I would get a snappi because trifolding doesn't work for everyone, it never worked for me, especially with newborn poop.
I never had a blowout though with snappied prefold/Thirsties cover.

This would be my only comment. For *me* that would be about a dozen fewer diapers than I'd prefer. Having about 3 dozen diapers allowed me to wash every other day with my newborn (with my older girls I actually had 4 dozen prefolds so that I could wash every 2-3 days.) At two months, we're still going through 15 diapers a day.

Looks good.

DS outgrew his NB stash by 1 month (he was 9 lbs at birth). Next time I'll be going directly to S and skipping NB sizes.

Thanks so much ladies!!

I really don't want to wash daily so I'll get more prefolds and about 4 more covers. I'll get some small size too.

I knew I'd need more Snappis. I only have one right now. I was thinking of buying 5 more. Enough?

Going into cloth diapering I thought I'd go with AIOs or pockets. Turns out I really like prefolds and covers. Go figure! Hopefully Baby will like them as much as I do!

You really don't need more than one or two snappis. You take it off of the dirty diaper and put it directly on the next diaper. It doesn't get dirty or anything. The only time I am glad I have two is when I misplace the snappi because I'm using a fitted or AIO and then I can't find the snappi the next time I want to use a prefold.

I would say that 6 is too many snappis. However, if you're anything like me I do recommend more than 2. I lose those dang things everywhere! So for me it's nice to have a bunch so I can always find one.

yeah, I'm disorganized like that too. With just two, there have been a few times in the last week where I reached for another fitted or just used a trifolded prefoldwith no snappi because I could NOT find either of the two snappis (not really the end of the world -- I cloth diapered my first three kids with prefolds and no snappi). I always assume everyone else is capable of leaving things where they can find them when they need them, though!

I bought 4 Snappis when I started cloth diapering 3 years ago. My second child is 13 months, and I still have 3 of them, 1 is still in the package even. Like someone else said, you take it off the baby, you put it on the baby. I haven't lost one yet. I think pins are good to have around, too. I don't mind pinning, and I keep extras in the bag. They work for everything-I've used them to turn a prefold into a bib and pin a receiving blanket inside the car to block the sun on a long trip. They are cheap and take up no space.
