Bw adjustment period?

Just curious if some babies have to get used to being worn. I've tried
a couple of different carriers w/ ds (moby, beco, hotslings) & he seems
to cry in all of them. Got a new ss carrier today. He was fine when they fitted it to me, but then screamed when I put him in it at home. Just curious if anyone else has had similar experience.

yes! my DS was either crying or asleep in the carrier for the first few months. I had to WALK right away, and at a good pace, as soon as I got him in there, and then accept that he would cry and fuss until he fell asleep. But then, he did that outside of the carrier too! We went on to have a long and happy babywearing career together!

YES definitely. Part of it was that when I was still getting the hang of it, it took a long time and a lot of fiddling around to get DD situated in the carrier. As I got more comfortable putting her on, she got more comfortable being on. It did help too to put her on and immediately head outside for a walk.

Just try not to get discouraged! Now (at 14 months) DD loooooves being worn, and I love wearing her. I was finally vindicated when my ILs visited last month...my FIL said, "At first she hated being in that thing (I don't actually think that's true, but of course they wanted her in a stroller). Now though, it's like her second home! She's so peaceful and happy there, no matter where you go she's cozy with you."

My ds will get upset if he's in a fussy mood as well. I find dancing, talking to him or showing him the mirror (or all 3) make it better.

I also make sure he's in the carrier properly and not uncomfy or being pinched anywhere.

i've found with my kids that after i get them in there, i need to walk quickly, bounce, etc. to settle them and then they are content to be in there.
i had to laugh the other day when i realized just how used to the babyhawk dd2 is. even though she was crying and doing the whole limp baby thing so you can't pick her up, i put her on my back to tie her into the babyhawk and though she was still having her tantrum, she stopped wiggling so i could strap her in! she's become an old pro!
