I'm so sorry for your loss
From what I understand, an u/s can be important after a miscarriage to make sure there is nothing left that could cause issues. I had one following each of my miscarriages.

Oh mama, I'm so sorry. At least it happened quickly. For me passing the sack was the most upsetting (and painful). As I recall, the bleeding in the days following was just like a period. I was emotionally drained but physically felt OK.

I did have an ultrasound following the miscarriage to make sure I had passed everything.
