Unusually high Hcg level

Had a blood draw Friday and found out yesterday my level was 305,298. I don't know how far along I am as this pregnancy was a complete and total surprise. I am still nursing my almost 16 month old and have not had a period. So, my doc wanted the lab work to check my levels. The office wouldn't tell me anything yesterday other than the level and the nurse made several comments about how high the level is. I am scheduled for an ultrasound to date the pregnancy but not until June 7!!

So of course, I have turned to the Internet. I have found some disconcerting facts about high levels...mainly chromosomal abnormalities and molar pregnancy. I understand that it could also mean my pregnancy is further along but like I said before...who knows because I haven't had a period.

Anyone have any experience...good, bad, otherwise with high Hcg levels?

considering you don't know how far along you are, I wouldn't be worried until given a reason to... those numbers could very very easily mean you are a few months along already.

I thought hcg levels can also mean multiples?

True - and I wish I wasn't such a worrier. The fact that I'm 42 adds to my fears. And, from what I've read the count is supposed to level off after so many weeks and my number is just so incredibly high...

Yep - read that too. And the possibility of multiples goes up with maternal age. Yeow.

if you were around 3 months I would say they arent really incredibly high, you are probably right at max. Most of the cutoffs I have found are 300,000 for a healthy singleton at 12 weeks and you are barely enough over that for it to matter.

My 6 week Hcg draw was high enough to indicate healthy triplets...Just one healthy boy in there. Total opposite of my 2.5yo son. His hcg numbers were WAY low and slow to double. There is such a HUGE range of what can be perfectly normal. Try to not worry.

I'd ask them to move up the dating u/s given your age (and the availability of some early tests if you wanted them), but I just think you are much farther along than a week or two. My second DD had the HCG of triplets too. She is a lot of kid, but not that much!!

Hearing about these high HCGs and normal babies is so reassuring to me... I tested over 15,000 on 22dpo.... TWICE the high end of the "normal" range for that time. Worried about the possibility of downs or molar (I'm 43). But multiples would be just fine with me! One week six days until u/s.... keep your fingers crossed for us!
