What to feed 6 week old chicks and ducks?

We have 20 RIR and Barred Rocks that are 6 weeks old. Some are for meat, some for eggs, there are some roos. So far I have fed them medicated Purina feed that they recommended at the feed store where we bought them, but it's getting low. Can I switch to unmedicated feed now? Do they still need to be on a grower/starter feed? I plan to let them start free ranging soon, do i need to give them grit before I start offering them treats? When can I offer them treats like food scraps?

How about my ducks? We have 2 Pekins and the duck feed is about gone now, do I just get the same unmedicated starter? These ducks are not for eating, just for fun. I'd like to give them some treats too....

I don't know what others do, but by 6 wks my chicks are always introduced to the rest of the flock so they eat what the others eat-lay rations and scratch grains and bugs and kitchen scraps. My neighbor has Pekin ducks and is feeding them what her chickens eat. HTH!

So, when you start them on scratch and scraps do you have to introduce grit to them?

I don't, but that's because we have soooo many rocks out here, and lots of little tiny chips of the rock are what ours use for grit.

We feed the chicks and ducklings Flock Raiser. I think it's made by Purina.
