Basal Thermometers

I've had this great basal thermometer for a couple years now and the battery low thingy keeps beeping at me so I know I need a new one. Thing is I can't find any anymore. The one I have now I got a Target but when I've looked over the last month or so I can't find any but your standard kind. So then I check CVS and I can't find any there either. So where are you guys getting your basal thermometers these days?

and they arent by the regular thermometers, they are by baby stuff/pregnancy tests at my store.

the battery can usually be replaced. Bring the old battery in with you and see if you can find it at your local drugstore. It will be with the watch batteries. I've charted (formerly to avoid pregnancy) for years, and I have had the same $9 Walgreens thermometer, but have had to replace the battery about once a year.

My Target has them by the regular therms. Walgreens has them by the pregnancy tests. Or you can order the BD one on Amazon. The BD one has a replaceable battery. I just changed mine and it was $4 instead of buying a whole new therm for $12 or $13.

They still have them at my target in the baby isle! You might check there to. I got mine at walmart and it seems to be working good.

I had a Walgreens BBT thermometer for years, but it got stepped on and died. I replaced it with another (although the style had changed), and my temps were way low compared to my earlier temps. A side-by-side with a regular thermometer showed the temps were not only lower, but inconsistently lower (0.7-1.5F). I thought I had a dud, but reviews online showed the same thing.

I returned it and have a RiteAid brand now and it seems to be fine, and is in line with my previous temps.

Interesting. That's the thermometer I have, and while I can always see a clear temperature shift, I question its accuracy because it seems to get stuck on certain readings. That is, it will over and over, every month, say I'm 97.2 or 97.18, but never, for example, 97.21 or 97.19...I also always get 97.45 and 97.6 and 97.73--never 97.75 or 97.42, etc....it just reverts to the same readings all the time, and I can't believe that my temperature is THAT consistent. I replaced the battery and it didn't make a difference.

That particular walgreens one, if you get it you are meant to keep it in 1-3 minutes past the beep to get your actual temp.

If you dont leave it in, you will still get a temp shift but not accurate readings.

Huh. That seems like a major design flaw. In any event, I prefer a therm that gives accurate readings at the beep rather than at some later time.
