Yeah that's bugging me too. I didn't know which smilly thingamabob to use for that. Any suggestions? I might just write it in like I did for total babies.

I wish we had a planned natural hospital birth too!

Thanks for updating this board, mamakaikai! Please add my new son's name if you can, it's Raymond Gilbert D.

July Mama's: It's JULY!!!! And we already have a whopping 20 babies!!

Congrats to all the postpartum mamas!!

Given that I am newly postpartum and a mama of a 2 year old, and that we have a very active DDC with numerous mama's, please help me stay on top of the birth announcement thread by posting the details of your birth in this thread if you wish to be added, or to add/change details to your announcement.

Also, I have not found a suitable emoticon to depict vaginal hospital birth. So I have manually written it in. (mods, any chance emoticons can be added for this purpose?!!) In an effort to be inclusive, I have grouped both birth center and hospital vaginal births together. I know I can't please everyone, so I hope there is no offense taken by grouping these together. Also, I think it might get really complicated to account for all the medicated/unmediated births...again, I hope no one takes offense. If you wish to have that information be part of your birth announcement, please post it as part of your birth details.

Happy Birthing Everyone!!!

Mostly a lurker, and I'm a little late with the announcement, but here goes!

Date + time of Birth: June 23, 2010, at 8:02 AM
Username (real name) Edd: lawschoolmama, EDD of July 3
Baby Name + Sex: DD2
Gestational age: 38.5 weeks (10 days before her guess date)
Weight + Length: 6 lbs, 15 oz
Arrival details + weblink to photos or birthstory etc: My water broke at 4 AM on the 23rd, and for some reason, I thought I'd have a full day of laboring. The contractions began to get intense REALLY fast though, and before I knew it we barely had time to get to the hospital (which is about 30 mins. from our house)! When I got there, I was in unbelievable pain, and totally panicking about it--transition; I was 7 cm dilated, 100 percent effaced, and the head was at zero station. The nurses predicted I would have her in 30 minutes; 25 minutes later I pushed her out in two incredibly painful pushes! My doula didn't even make it (got stuck in morning traffic), but she was lovely and very helpful both prenatally and postpartum. My midwife barely got there in time to catch the baby! I was doing Hypnobabies, but I have to say, I don't know if it was because the labor was so fast or what, but it did NOT work for me at all Oh well, DD2 is absolutely a wonderful little baby, so cute and sweet and a great nurser, and DD1 is so adorable with her--such a good big sister

Congrats!!!

Date + time of Birth-June 30th at 3:37pm
Username (real name)-krisalee(Kristie) Edd- July 5
Baby Name + Sex- Hope Elizabeth Grace- but we're calling her Ellie
Gestational age- 39 weeks, 2 days
Weight + Length- 7 lbs, 15 oz & 20 inches
Arrival details + weblink to photos or birthstory etc- On June 3rd, our oldest son was diagnosed with leukemia. This news quickly changed our planned homebirth as we found out that we could store the baby's cord blood free of charge if we had a hospital birth. Ellie was born with an extra long cord that provided TONS of cordblood for her big brother, and someday could be his cure. The birth itself was wonderful- not what I expected at all from a hospital birth. She's perfect and beautiful!

June 30th - 1:38pm
Username: blueeyes - Edd: July 4th
William
39 weeks 4 days
8lb 11oz
arrival details: delivered via c-section & he is just perfect . After a consult & u/s with the perinatologist, it was decided due to his size that the safest delivery would be by c-section to avoid shoulder dystocia, etc.
Congrats mommas!

Krisalee good luck with your son and so glad you could get a great amount of blood from the cord.
Congratulations to all Mamas!

And yes, Krisalee that is wonderful news about the cord blood.
