Do you clean-as-you-go types have ANY dirty dishes in the kitchen when you start cooking? I am really trying to work on this and it occurred to me that maybe you guys deal with ALL the dirty dishes as they are dirtied throughout the day. I have a small kitchen and the dirty dish spot to the left of the sink is right next to the only food prep area. Also, the hot water takes a long time to arrive at the kitchen faucet so it seems more efficient to wait till there's a small pile before I attempt to wash anything (instead of immediately washing everything).

Yeah, theres almost always at least a few cups & some silverware, if not bowls/plates from lunch and/or breakfast (I *TRY* to do dishes after lunch, or before I start cooking, but it doesn't always happen... if I do do them right before cooking I often leave the soapy water in the sink so that I can stick just-dirtied stuff in there and even actually wash stuff as I go vs just rinsing.
