I'm not pregnant, I'm just fat! :(

This may not be the place for this, but I need to just get this off my chest.

I'm sick and tired of people - my family mostly - saying that I must be pregnant and not telling anyone because I've gained so much weight. I've gained about 50lbs and I'm a size 14. I do not qualify for my own show on TLC. I do not need power equipment to get me out of my house. I'm just overweight. I just graduated from nursing school, and have spent the last 3 years eating what and when I can, and using all of my energy to care for my family and not myself, and the attitude I'm getting from my mom is not helping me. She won't even post my graduation pictures on her facebook because I'm fat. I'm so over this.

That is so rude - Sorry mama. Congrats on getting through nursing school that is awesome!

I'm sorry your Mom is being so hard on you! That is really not cool.

Congratulations on graduating from Nursing school, that is great

Nursing school is really, really tough. Finishing is a huge accomplishment! Congratulations!!

Your mom is being really nasty. I'm sorry.

I was looking recently at my graduation pictures from two years ago, and you know, I was at the top of my weight range and I don't love how they look. But sometimes it's really tough to find time to work out and to eat well and care for the kids and, oh yeah, accomplish other important things.

Fwiw, I dropped about 15 pounds the fall after my graduation - I was working and had a regular schedule and was able to be more on top of my working out and more intentional about my eating. If *you* feel like you want to make that a focus of your life for a while, then do, but otherwise, roll your eyes at your mom and ignore her. It's not her life.

I'll post your grad pic on my fb page any day! I'm serious. You can pm me if you want some fb celebrating.

Right now, I'll have another caffeinated drink to toast you.

That would be so hurtful.

Why don't you get yourself some cute clothes, a cute hair cut/color whatever and really try to celebrate who you are at this size. I'm in no way saying that you shouldn't try to lose weight if that's what you want but you should love yourself and be able to find yourself attractive how you are now.

I wasn't able to effectively lose weight until I started to do this.

And the negative people in my life just sort of shut up because it was obvious that I was feeling pretty and happy in my skin.

I'm almost down to a size 14. I'm sure you are gorgeous.

And my sincere congratulations on nursing school!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm an RN - nursing school was tough, and I can't even imagine doing it with a family/kids to care for.

Celebrate yourself and know that you ROCK!!!

Thank you, guys. Logically I know what an accomplishment my life thus far is. I just have to work on myself some, and learn to love myself the way I am.

hopefulfaith - That's awesome that you're a nurse. I got a great internship in the OR of a level 2 trauma center. I'm so excited to start!

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't think of a better way to start. I'm a little biased - I started out in a high-volume trauma center, and it is an amazing education. You will learn so much! I've worked most of the rest of my career in rural places, but I spent several years in Level I-II trauma centers & it is such a great learning experience. Enjoy it. Ask the residents to teach you - they're right in the middle of an intense education and love to share what they're learning. Have fun!!

I meant what I said, too - I'm sure you are gorgeous, size 14 and all. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

that is really not good. But you know sometimes we need to get hurt to realize that what is happening to us is not good anymore.. Maybe your mom just want you to realize that it bad for your health to gain more weight.

By refusing to celebrate her accomplishment? That's horrible.

How judgemental and harsh. She's not morbidly obese, in need of some sort of reality tv intervention, she's a size 14. Give me a break.

Grrrrrrrrrr, this kind of cruel justification really gets to me. Like everyone has a right to point out the faults and failings of other peoples lives out of "love". Gag.

I just *loathe* the word fat. It's about life changes and body image. You will never look and feel the way you want if you do not have a healthy body image. Small strides, workable schedules, setting goals that are within reach, POSITIVE SPIRITS; all things you need to surround yourself with. I would tell your mom that you love yourself, need to be surrounded by positive thoughts and if she cannot support that you will keep your distance.

for graduating!!

And for having a mother who is so awful. It sounds like she's got some problems she needs to work through before she can really be a mother.
