Anyone wean off thyroid meds?

This is kindof a long story but I'll try to keep it short. 3 1/2 yrs ago after baby #4 was born I was diagnosed with severe adrenal fatigue and secondary hypothyroid, as well as severe leaky gut and many food intolerances, probly celiac disease as well.
Since then I have been on a few different treatment plans, and the last one has really worked! I feel almost "normal" if there is such a thing. Much better than ever before anyway!
So I am now wondering if I will always be on thyroid meds or if this secondary hypothyroid will heal now that my adrenals are much better. I keep forgetting to take my thyrpid meds, and don't have aot of symptoms. My levels aren't typical of hypothyroid and the medical Drs don't beleive I need any (which was way off as I was soooo symptomatic!)
I am working with a nutritionist/natural dr team and they seem to think it will get back to normal and I was getting excited about not being on thyroid meds all my life!
However, being off one of them for a few weeks now, I have had headaches everyday-all day, am gaining a little bit of weight, and other symptoms are coming back mildly.

So here's my actual question.............Has anyone healed their endocrine system or secondary thyroid enough to go off meds and remain symtom free? Or, is it once on meds always on meds?
Thanks for anyone's thoughts, I am at a loss right now.

Not exactly your situation, but I got a prescription for Synthroid a few years ago--and I had the labwork and the symptoms to justify it--and just at that time I decided to try an alternative approach that helped a lot and I never filled the prescription. At this point, I'd say I'm mostly asymptomatic, definitely functional, good mood, overall feel good given that I'm still working on my adrenal issues.

The one thing that's lingering, and I'm not entirely sure what to do about it, is that my body temp is still running low. Not nearly as low as a few years ago, and strangely I don't get cold easier than other people like I did before, but it's not normal.

For me, the nutritional components of thyroid function were a big deal. The pregnancies and nursing were really nutritionally draining, I'd think between having kids and celiac that it would be worth looking into.

The site that was really helpful to me then was ithyroid.com. He discusses thyroid problems, hypo and hyper, as different states of nutritional imbalance and talks about the nutrients involved. He lists a lot of nutrients, other places trim the list down a bit.

Lately I've started using cell salts, and that's reducing our need (the kids and me) for mineral supplements, so you may want to read that thread if you haven't already.

I was on armour then naturthroid for about a total of a year and a half for my hypo symptoms but last summer my thyroid shifted into hyper so I cut back on my meds and eventually got completely off them. I haven't been on them for almost a year. Acupuncture was very balancing for me. I highly recommend it.
