DD just turned 3 and is developmentally-delayed--about a year behind. We've always stayed with her until she fell asleep, but now it's taking nearly 2 hours, on average, until she falls asleep. Naturally, i'd assume she shouldn't be taking naps, perhaps, but she still needs them. I've tried waking her from her naps after about 1/2 hour, but it still doesn't help.
We live on one floor, so i've tried leaving her in her room (we're only a few feet away), but she cries for us to come lay with her. She even cries if i sit at the foot of her bed.
I'm not into CIO, but i'm at a loss here. Neither dh nor i wants to lay in bed with her for 2 hours every night. I can't think of anything else we can do to get her to fall asleep on her own. Help!
