Air Travel/Disneyworld at 25 weeks?

I am planning a trip with DH and DD to Disneyworld in the first week of September and am due mid-December. I have not spoken to a midwife about this plan yet, but do you think it would be a problem? DH is very accomodating and would definitely take charge of DD and let me nap/rest when I wanted to. I felt pretty great last pregnancy at that stage and I really want to take DD there before the baby comes (we promised her we would take her when she's 4). I really think it will be fine, but am wondering what others think or whether you have BTDT. Thanks!

I'm flying coast to coast in the US in 2 weeks, I'll be 24.5 weeks. I'll be flying back at 27.5 weeks.

I'm not concerned and neither are either my HB MW or my OB.

I'll be gone 3 weeks with 2 kids at the beach, good times, we'll hit Disneyland and Legoland and have daily swim lessons and beach hitting........I'm not terribly worried. My dad will be off 4 days a week and my stepmom 2 days a week, so I'll have a little help.

Sounds like the perfect time to travel - except that it will be hot and humid in FL then. But I wouldn't worry about the flight or all the walking around. 2nd trimester is usually the most comfortable.

As long as you arent riding the bumpy disneyworld rides it sounds perfectly fine! Im moving halfway across country at 27 weeks, including 2 flights and 2 six hour drives... plus getting married and taking my kids downtown for our carnival...

of course, I wont be riding anything at the carnival... and that's the only thing that my doctor would tell me not to do!

big thing though, make sure to stay well hydrated! dehydration is our worst enemy... it brings on so many problems!

25 weeks is a perfectly fine time to fly.

Depending on how much you're showing though you might not be allowed on even the gentle kiddie rides. We were at the Nickelodeon theme park at the Mall of America and every single ride had a sign saying that pregnant people shouldn't ride it... even the super slow easy things like the carousel. Since I wasn't showing yet I ignored the signs and went on anything that my 34 inch tall 2 year old needed a chaperone to be allowed to ride.

Most likely fine. I'm going to be flying across the country for my baby shower when I'm 25 weeks and flying back at 26 weeks.

I'm not really into the rides, anyway...just want to have fun as a family of three before the new member arrives. Thanks for the input, I thought it would be fine, but you never know. and rparker, I'm basically already showing!

We traveled to Disney two months ago when I was 25 weeks. it was a great time to go! I felt good and was able to keep up with the kids and they still needed naps which forced me into resting. The rides that are not okay are really well marked. I am so glad we did something like that before baby arrives because it will be a while until I feel up for a DW vacation again.

Have Fun!

Im hoping to feel up to it by next summer! I really want to take my little girl there for her 6th birthday (I never got to go myself... even still at nearly 28 never been there...)

Shes such a princess... she collects the disney princess barbie dolls (the non-slutty ones. ugh I hate the short dress ones!)

I think that would make for a great birthday... just a matter of if I can handle taking a 9 month old baby girl with too!

We went when I was just about the same gestation. We had a 4 yo and a 2 yo. We had a great time! There were some rides I chose not to go on, but there was still a ton to do.

I'm with you there, sister, DD has a horde of trampily-dressed Barbies (gifts from others ) not that their clothes stay on anyway! I'm 37 and I've never been (neglected child, anyone? )and we promised we'd take DD when she was 4 because in my fantastical world of TTC I figured I'd get preg immediately and we'd have the baby around the time she turned 4 and would then take the infant to DW (I never found travelling with DD as an infant hard) kind of as a treat for DD after baby. Well, I only got pregnant around her bday so here we are with DD insisting "YOU SAID I COULD GO WHEN I TURNED 4!!" I think it will be fun, I'm usually groovy in 2nd trimester (based on one pregnancy )

Have fun! We're going to Disneyland in July for DS's 5th birthday. I'm worried about how hot it will be. Like you, I'm not into the rides. Just trying to get in some fun times when it's still only 3 of us.

Qbear'sMama! yes go!!! I was just remarking how i felt the absolute best at 25ish weeks. showing, glowing, and still energetic. now I'm already slowing down in the 30th week.

just talked to our MW about our trip planned for 32-33weeks to the bahamas. she said the most important part was to drink twice as much water as usual on the plane. you dehydrate twice as quickly on a plane! other than staying hydrated, protect our more-sensitive-when-pregnant-than-usual skin from the sun, and take time to rest if feeling over heated/tired/etc. oh, and get up and walk on the plane as often as you can, but I'm sure you know that.

last time I was in DW, we went in late june. also hot and humid. but they had these wonderful misting stations that you could stand under and get a little spray. it dried within minutes from the hot FLA sun, but boy was it nice!!

i guess also bring lots of COMFORTABLE SHOES! your dd will be bringing you all over those huge parks oh, and snacks in your back pack- food is outrageously priced, and you'll need the energy.

have fun!!

i think it sounds great , and my advice is bring one of those little portable stools, there are tons to choose from, the standing in line can rack you feet and body even when not preggo!

I say go and have a great time. I am flying home this summer and I'll be around 30ish weeks.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! We are definitely planning on going. Even though we're so very excited about the baby, the last 4 years have been all about DD and it makes me a little wistful that she soon won't be our one and only . I think this trip will be so fun for the three of us, something special just for her before everything is focused on another little person. It's funny because I'm not inherently pro-Disney, but those darn princesses have captured my little one's heart and I know she will lose her little mind when she sees them!
