burp cloth diapers - OK to use as diaper?

I have these Gerber flannel burp cloth diapers. I got them when DS was a newborn & he is now almost 14mos, so they've been washed several times with the regular baby laundry - using Tide Free & Clear det & Bounce Free dryer sheets. I've used them as burp cloths & changing mats only. I'm about to start cloth diapering - can I use these for CDs?

I ordered some Flip diapers (arriving later today!) & my sister is giving me some Prorap covers, which I don't have yet. Can I use the Gerbers in either of these covers? I plan to get some regular prefolds too, just thought I might be able to use what I already have.

I say go for it. They may not be as absorbent as prefolds but that just means you will have to change more often. There is a possibility that the dryer sheets will cause them to repeal instead of absorb... if thats the case, just strip them. You can even use receiving blankets as flats and use them as inserts if ya want. I am all about re-purposing stuff.

As long as they're 100% cotton, I say you're good to go. And ditto what the PP said about the dryer sheets, you might want to strip them first (you know not to use any fabric softeners on the diapers, right?).

I think I did read that, thanks for the reminder, though! (I was hoping they'd come with washing instructions. )
