cloth swim diaper logistics

If you use a cloth swim diaper - what do you do if they poop in it & want to keep swimming? Do you have a second one?

What if you go swimming, finish swimming, remove the diaper, & then want to swim later but it is still wet - is it easy to get back on while still wet?

Are they only "required" in public pools? If we're going to swim in a lake at a state park with a public beach, does DS need to wear one? He also has trunks that have the mesh liner.

Thanks experienced Mamas!!

Well, I've only had to deal with poop in the swim diaper once - ds & my nephew both just never really seemed to poop in the water. That one time I just brought the diaper into the bathroom, rinsed & washed it by hand.

Putting them back on while wet is totally doable but sometimes a little cold for dc. I have multiple swim dipes so I usually bring more than one with me.

You don't really need to use them in a lake or river or whatnot. I usually do just 'cause that is what I put on him when he swims & I prefer for him not to be nakey in public.

Because they are supposed to fit so tightly I have found its much easier to get one that snaps on rather than pulls on. Man those pull-on swimdipes are really hard to get off of a baby when they're wet!

At lakes, I just used a BumGenius on him. Then changed it when he got out of the water.

What about EBF poo? My DD is 11 weeks, and her poo is not solid, and won't be for some time, I assume. I can't imagine how a diaper could keep her poo contained in water without an airtight seal around her!

Yeah I have a 6mo ebf and all I can say is no matter what she is wearing we're getting out at the first sign of pooping!!!!

I just use one of her pocket diapers without the stuffing. It's no big deal if there is poop or she needs a fresh one that way.

For EBF poo, you could get a Gerber cover to add on top of the whole thing. They are pretty snug.

If you get a swim diaper that fits correctly it really should be snug enough to not let the poo out, even EBF. I used isme visme and had no problem with DD's poo. Hope that helps.

As for the original post I had two swim diapers and that seemed to work for all situations listed.

I'm debating whether or not to get one this year. DD is potty trained but every now and then we have an issue with pooing in the bathtub so I'm worried the pool would be the same thing.
