Question about Rainbow light prenatals

I posted about this in the OTC prenatal thread, but needed to get an answer before my hubby went to whole foods, so thought I would do a separate thread.

I assume the 6 a day is better than the one a day, as far as better assimilation of vitamins?

Also, what does the pill look like? I want to be sure it's not like most vitamins that come out of the body the same way they go in: whole. I'm assuming since there are herbs that it would easily dissolve in water and therefore, in the stomach.

The pills are huge and I don't believe they dissolve in water...but you don't just have water in your stomach.

The six a day is better because it has more stuff in it, specifically a full dose of calcium (which no one-a-day has space for). Both are made to food nutrients for easier assimilation.

I take the one-a-day because that's all I can stomach. I figure it's better than nothing. But like the pp said, I'm sure the 6 a day has more stuff in it.

I only use the Rainbow Light one-a-day.

Thanks, mamas.

I was taking promise prenatal, since it was in capsule form and I knew it would be absorbed. But, I really like the ingredients in this better.

I just read that it's a whole food vitamin. I guess that's what I was wanting to know. I didn't want one of those white pills that is entirely chemical and you pass whole the next day .

I have taken the one-a-day prenatal with both pregnancies and had no problems. I supplement with fish oil too.

I too take the one a day. wouldnt remember to do 6x per day! I also take a high quality fish oil supp.

Although, I do NOT get mine at WF- they sell them at evry Target in my area, and they are quite a bit less expensive there... and then I found them on drugstore.com for even LESS for the 90 day supply, and free shipping! that's my go-to now. overall I really like them. if I take right before my breakfast, seems they get totally absorbed-

no typical fluorescent yellow pee like with other OTC vitamins.

I liked the 6 a day with my first two pregnancies (third pregnancy I couldn't keep down water, let alone any vitamins). I just took two with each meal, so it wasn't hard to remember. They are normal sized, and have a lot of extras in them that you just can't get in one pill a day, and cut out other supplements (I would have taken alfalfa, probiotics and RRL separately if they were not in the prenatal).

I take the one a day...it makes me cringe to think of taking 6 pills a day! I do get some bright yellow pee though! I like the rainbow light brand so that's why I went with them. I have previously used their vitamin c and liked it a lot.

I take the one a day and I really, really like them. I started with Puritan's Pride but the taste and smell of those made me sick in early pregnancy. Bleh.

The Rainbow lights seem to be absorbed better if you eat them before or after a meal- no bright yellow pee. But I also like that I can take them on an empty stomach and not feel sick at all. I have no complaints about Rainbow lights and I'll probably keep taking them long after this baby gets here.

They do have probiotics and RRL in them- but the amounts are so small that I supplement with RRL tea and active yogurt every day. I also take additional calcium and fish oil supps and add alfalfal powder to some orange/carrot juice every day. On this regimen I feel great.

Just FYI, Rainbow Light also recently released an organic prenatal in capsule form. I still gag on the smell of the one-a-day, and am going to try the capsule in hopes it will help me not get sick!

Thanks, Heather! I did not know that. I'll check it out.

I started taking these last night and I swear I already feel a difference. I also like that I can take 2 at a time, as it's easy to remember to take with meals. With taking 6 times a day, I'd be up a creek .
