want a homebirth but hate my home... (long) - Page 2

Wow, I know how you feel! This was my biggest worry about birthing in our ugly, hot, tiny, weird apartment in Toronto. A run-down, small apartment in Toronto in July was NOT my ideal "home" setting for birth. I was worried that I wouldn't feel comfortable making noise because of the neighbors, too.

But like others have said, when it came down to it, it was great. I labored during the night, so things were relatively quiet, but I doubt I would have noticed if they weren't. I'm so glad I didn't have to go anywhere either before or after the baby was born.

Good luck!

With my third I wanted a very unmedical birth but we had a roommate and having the baby at home wouldn't have worked. I found a midwife who has a very low-tech, homey birthcenter and had the baby in the tub in their kitchen. It worked out very well and I got to leave all the yucky stuff behind and go home to a non-bloody house, no rank birthtub house 3 hours later.

Just wanted to come back and let you know that my birth went awesome, even though i hate our apartment. I set it up emotionally and with a my birth board and it ended up to be my gentelest birth. So it can be done!!! Good luck momma!
