Costco Trip

What do you buy at Costco?
I go every 2-4 months - we're not members, but I give a friend $ - they buy me a giftcard and then I go spend it. That's right - giftcards get you in Costco w/o membership.
I usually buy organic chickens to freeze, big bags of organic frozen veggies, and almond butter. Sometimes a 5 lb. log of Tillamook cheddar I intend to shred and freeze for recipes that require melting (no reason to shell out for raw if it's getting cooked). Often my husband will plow through most of it (seriously, that skinny man can eat some cheese) before I do that.
Are there other Costco deals I'm missing? We do a CSA, so I skip the fresh veggies - although maybe a ton of bananas could go in the freezer for smoothies.

Right now they have huge containers of organic strawberries and raspberries that we've stocked up on. You could just freeze them for smoothies as right now they are cheaper than bagged organic berries.

We really like the Dubliner cheese from there. It's the same brand as Kerry Gold butter I believe. (???)

They have organic cheddar right now too that's pretty good.

Maple syrup. I was so excited to see big containers of real maple syrup for so much cheaper!

My last trip to Costco was pretty light, since I don't buy many household goods.

A couple big jars of canned artichoke hearts.
A 12-pk of canned tuna
A 13 lb sack of baking soda
White vinegar
When they have it, a large bottle of vanilla extract
Odwalla juices (I don't normally buy these, but their prices are great, so I splurged)
Cream cheese in the 3# brick
Lots of Tillamook cheese
Dried mushrooms
Booze
A couple random cheeses that looked good
Sugar sweetened sodas

Our nearest Costco is over two hours away, though it's right by the airport so we make it every couple of months.

I didn't see any organic berries at ours or I would have snapped them up!

We were just near a few in Denver and we picked up -

- organic gala apples. I think they were $7-8 for five lbs? They also have fuji.
- dried organic apple chips around $4-5 for a bag
- organic Thompson raisins $5-6 for two big bags
- Mexican Coke (with sugar)
- a huge block of yeast for $3-4
- organic chicken low sodium broth in a jar ($5-6?). They also have boxed broth.
- Lundberg organic short brown rice. I don't remember the price but it was WAY cheaper than even buying in bulk at places like Whole Foods.
- my husband insisted on a 20 box set of Amy's Shells and Cheese

Some other stuff they have:
- They have big tubs of spinach for $4-5
- Bags of large conventional avocados for $5-6
- They were demoing Silk Almond milk while we were there if you drink that kind of thing
- tubs of organic Kirkland brand animal cookies. Unfortunately Disney themed
- a huge bag - maybe 10lbs - of organic Whole Earth brand sugar
- Lots of Amy's brand soups
- Lara bars

When we go, which is about once a month or so, because I fill my scripts there, we usually get salad greens (organic baby spinach and baby lettuces), snap peas--5 bucks for 2 pounds, can't beat that, english cucumbers, bananas, apples.

We also get meat, almond butter, lunch meat, cheeses, cereal to keep on hand for when step son is here, bread for the same, that stays in the freezer. Milk, butter, cottage cheese, sometimes yogurt. Eggs.

We love the Dubliner cheese as well, and it is Kerrygold. Ours has a few other varieties of Kerrygold cheese as well. And the real maple syrup is a steal!

We get a lot of this stuff too. I also buy cream there (not organic or raw), fish, sprouted bread, big bags of frozen berries, wine, garbage bags, coffee, big cans of tomatoes to make our own sauces, produce depending on what they have, chicken sausages, feta cheese, and goat cheese. Of course, I don't get all this stuff every time I am there and sometimes they don't have things in stock. If you look around and know your prices (sometimes things aren't a good deal) you can get some great stuff!

I love the Kirkland balsamic vinegar

we get canned tuna, olive oil, jack's salsa, tillamook cheese, kerrygold butter, hummus, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher detergent, ziploc bags mainly. Occasionally I'll get canned tomato products, and the occasional random food item that isn't always there. I rarely buy produce there because the nearest Costco is anywhere from 30-45 minutes away, and I'm a part of a produce coop

Most have been mentioned...

-Kerrygold butter and Dubliner cheese.
-Australian leg of lamb (grassfed I believe)
-French Comte raw milk cheese
-Shredded Chihuahua mexican melting cheese
-Big blocks of parmesano reggiano or grana padano (cheaper) for grating

-Mexican Coke with cane sugar (for splurges/cravings)
-ziploc qt and gallon freezer bags and sandwich bags

-big jar of almond butter

Ours has ghee now! but I make my own from the Kerrygold

Have fun!
