vitamins for vegan toddler

I'm wondering what supplements you recommend for a vegan toddler (22 months). My son is a very good eater and we eat a generally healthy diet full of fruits and veggies. I personally take a B-complex supplement as well as juice plus and a multivitamin, but I don't give DS anything yet. He drinks fortified rice and almond milk, and I've heard it is good to supplement with B12 and DHA. Do you have any specific products you like?

Also, what types of probiotics do you use with your child? I know regular yogurt has them but does soy yogurt? Or are there any other vegan foods that have probiotics?

I will supplement my son with : vitamin D, B12, and DHA. Maybe calcium and maybe a multi depending on how he eats.

You can get probiotics from all sorts of places - soy/coconut yogurt, kefir (soy, coconut, water), kombucha, kvass, fermented veggies, kimchee, sauerkraut, etc

Hope that helps!

I haven't been able to find a multi vitamin for Nora with D2, so I give her a multi with D3. It's one of the only concessions I've made w/her vegan diet. I also give her a DHA supplement in her soymilk.

I give my 12 week old son a liquid D3 as well, so I feel your frustration. But I just saw this today: http://stayingvegan.com/2010/05/vita...drisdol-drops/ (that's a great website in general too)

Definitely going to check those out!

wildwood makes a plain unsweetened probiotic soyogurt.

i've been giving dd (10 mo) a little flax oil everyday (mixed into oatmeal or on avocado or something) for DHA/ALA.

Just fyi, flax does not have any DHA and the rate of conversion from ALA to DHA is very low. Not sure if you knew that or not, just thought I'd throw it out there . . .
