Potty training young

DD is 14 months and expressed some pretty definite interest in potty training so we decided to just offer by getting her a small potty. She has really taken to it for both pee and poop. We still have lots of wet diapers, but we have also had 24 hours of dry.

I'm happy that she is doing so well and we are just going to let her control the pace on this. I'm starting to freak out a bit though. She is a really tiny kid. Like 4th percentile tiny. She is not big enough to use a regular toilet and I don't think she would tolerate being held over one.

If she does potty train herself, what do I do when we are out and about?

They make travel potties that you can put a plastic bag with some sort of absorbent disposable stuff to catch the pee...my friend had one.

Otherwise you could be a foldable potty seat you put over the big toilet.

beware automatic flushers out and about, you can put a post it note over them so it doesn't scare her

We have practiced EC since birth with my youngest and she is now 17 mo. We usually keep a Baby Bjorn Little Potty (bblp) in the trunk and move it to a seat after driving or before we go into our destination and at least give her a chance to go.

Public toilets still scare the wits out of her so I don't even bother. If I am at someone else's home I usually have a soft potty topper to use and she will go.

Congratulations on the early potty learning.
