housework inspiration and 15min check-in, do the same!

So, I finally walked into this non-profit store on the corner that always flaunts these beautiful things in the window and caved and purchased a gorgeous apron

I think I'll feel like a goddess in my new apron (about to strap it on) and make the house reflect that. I have wanted a new apron for a long, long time (and it feels good that the $$ from it is intended to help widows in west Africa.

I have another inspiration but I feel kind of stupid sharing it

what get's you motivated? blogs/pictures in magazines/dressing like a domestic goddess?

Go get inspired and then check back in!

I sorted the mail, put the new license plate sticker on the car, and vaccumed (emptied the dirt cup 2x).

Now ds and I are going to dinner.

... I made my own apron from some furnishing fabric I like & I'm much more inspired when it's very well ironed (= pretty much the only thing that I iron these days) I do feel silly when I think about it BUT it does make a difference for me ...

that said, maybe I'm not inspired "enough" because I spend a lot of time sitting at the computer researching the subject of cleaning, organizing and decluttering & half of that time could well be used "more productively" LOL (doing things instead of thinking how to go about doing it ... sometime in the future ....)

I do avoid ironing in general, but can understand perfectly how wearing a crushed apron would not be very inspiring!

Hi! Haven't been to the decluttering forum in a while. So much has changed but it's always the same old story: 1) it doesn't all fit! well not in a way that looks nice. 2) no extra money means we can't afford furniture & shelving to even store the amount of stuff we really need in an orderly fashion, plus makes it harder to let things go because we couldn't afford to replace them.

I haven't done a timed cleaning spree in a while but yesterday when we had some spare time before leaving the house, I suggested that DP and I do one together. I used an online countdown timer and ran to the bedroom where I stumbled over some clean laundry but made the bed and imposed some level of order. He whipped the living room into excellent shape by picking up various items our daughter had thrown around and then doing a thorough sweep (I had swept not five hours before and he came up with quite a bit!). Meanwhile I moved onto putting away clean dishes and almost got to the few dirty ones when the timer rang. I asked him if he thought it was dumb or helpful and he said it was good so I think this will be something we do more often!! I pointed out that everything we did were regular housekeeping things I do 1-3 times a day and imagine what kind of progress we might have made if things were already picked up. When I kept putting some things away and started a load of rags he was like hey, it's supposed to be fifteen minutes! and I explained you only HAVE to do fifteen minutes, nothing wrong with getting some momentum and using it! Honestly I hate to be running around cleaning if he is just chilling after work or whatever. The fact that he did fifteen minutes of cleaning was all the reciprocation? I needed to be motivated enough to keep cleaning. Of course after writing about it I am still feeling that motivation and thinking just how much would I have to clear out for him to really notice a difference when he comes home later?

My inspiration is fresh flowers. For some reason it makes my house stay clean. the fairies must like it.

I guess I have to clean for 15 min now?
