Gorgeous breastfeeding room at Complex Les Ailes, Montreal

I have never seen such a nice mothers room. Usually I hate going to breastfeeding rooms because they're near the toilets and usually pretty small and grotty, but this one is simply stunning.

I have no problem breastfeeding in public, but I went there today because my baby was extra grumpy and I wanted to change her too, and lo and behold, a mecca for moms and babies! lots of rocking chairs, couches, a spacious sink and changing area, relaxing lighting... we ended up going back twice, just to relax and nap for a bit (we were in the mall escaping our current heatwave, not really shopping )

I really appreciate the extra thought and effort that obviously went into facilities like this. I'm not sure how I feel about breastfeeding rooms in general, but in a place like the mall, where the only other place to sit would be on a hard bench, or in the food court, I really appreciate the consideration it shows to breastfeeding moms and babies to have such a nice place to go.

Good job, Complex Les Ailes!

Is that where Eaton's used to be? I haven't been there in years. Maybe I'll check it out when we go to Montreal this summer.

The oddest "mothers' room" I ever saw was in a mall in Laval - it was near the bathrooms, looked like a bathroom in terms of the decor, but had a row of really big "family stalls," an open space with a kitchen-ish area on the side, living room type furniture, and an carpeted play area with kid-sized furniture and some toys, that was on a platform.

it's the mall right beside the eaton centre. it's definitely worth going to. on the other hand, i was at another mall in the city this week, and popped my head in the nursing room out of curiosity and holy yuck! i mean, not bathroom stall yuck, but i'd much much rather breastfeed in their food court.

haha... now it seems like i send all my time in malls.

Maybe you can write them an appreciative e-mail. It's so good to hear about "non-bathroomish" facilities for nursing mothers!
