When do I need to start offering snacks between meals?

DD is almost one. She loves solids and has been eating them happily for 6 months now. She rarely asks for solids specifically though, just boob. I currently offer solid meals 3x/day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and bf on demand. I do have a supply issue so her max intake of bm is probably not more than 22 oz/day and could be as low as 16-18 oz/day.

How do I know if/when she needs to eat solids more often?

I think she'll find some way to ask for food I don't have a clue how much my daughter was getting nursing, so we'd just feed her if she was hungry, whichever way she asked for. Mostly at that age, snacks were convenient when we were out of the house and nursing was inconvenient at that moment.

My daughter is 15 months old and in the last couple of months we've gotten her on more of a schedule with meals and snacks (she has lost all interest in nursing during the day). I feed her breakfast between 7:30-8. I offer her a snack around 9:30, she doesn't always want that morning snack. If she turns it down, I put it away and save it for later. Lunch is around 11:30-11:45. She goes down for a nap around 1 and wakes around 3-3:30, ready for a snack. Her afternoon snack is usually larger since it's been so long since lunch. Then, I don't offer her anymore food until dinner, around 6. She takes a cup of milk with her meals and water anytime she asks for it in between.

My girl has never been one to ask for food either, she's too busy most of the time. So, I offer it whether she's asked for it or not just because I want her to eat something. She'd go all day without eating if I waited for her to ask for it.

DS is the same. I like the idea of having more of a schedule, like you do, because he often will go without eating. I always offer him food when I eat, but he usually won't take it. However, I've gone back to pureed veggies & meats for him, and he loves them!

The original question: I try (though I want to be on more of a schedule) to offer meals at normal intervals, and snacks half way between, but DS isn't a good eater like your LO, so he usually refuses unless it's fruit, which I limit for a host of other reasons. If he refuses whatever I'm eating, then I'll try pureed food (or yogurt, oatmeal), and he may or may not accept that.
