I'm not sure I understand why she was driving in the first place, but, glad this had a happy ending.

That link took me to a video of a BP executive talking about the oil spill.

ok, THAT's a crazy birth story.

She was driving because her husband has seizures and isn't supposed to drive. What I don't understand is why didn't she pull over?! She just kept driving down the highway at 70mph while giving birth, not very safe.

Babies just seem to fall out in Minneapolis. Last week there was that woman who gave birth to twins in the bathroom of her homeless families apartment.

I don't see why she thought driving in active labor was safer than her husband driving when he might have a seizure. Seems to me 911 might have been the way to go here.

I saw this. Unbelievable! I am assuming that it was such an emergency to GET TO THE HOSPITAL that she was focused on that. Who knows what they were thinking...

It says she had "mild labor pains" and then her water broke and the baby just "slid out". I'm guessing she didn't realize that she was actually having the baby right then- it sounds like she was just suddenly crowning and went 'crap! take the wheel honey, before the baby falls on the floor!'

I totally get the surprise birth... happened to me last time... But she put it on cruise control, slid her chair back, and kept going 70 mph... and then continued driving to the hospital with the baby in her lap.

I wish most people weren't so scared of birth that they think a quick, easy, smooth birth is grounds to race to the hospital at all costs. This could have ended so badly, that it turned out fine was a total blessing and nothing less.

It's kind of sad that it seems like she felt it was such an "emergency, OMG we need to get to the hospital!" that they couldn't pull over for a minute. I guess that's a comment on our birth culture here.
