9yo DS is interested in going back to school but...

I honestly don't feel it is really what he wants. I've been through this before with him. His older brother is in school (and he thrives there, really loves it and didn't dig hsing) so 9yo ds gets interested in school a little. This is why I sent him to school a couple of years ago-and while he did well, he was bored and outspoken enough about his boredom with the slow pace of work that I had to have 'conferences' with his teacher about him not doing review work once he learned a subject. He just didn't see the point in re-doing something he already understood, and he begged to homeschool again so I pulled him out.
He's doing well at home, and I know that he'll beg to homeschool again if I put him back in school...anyone have any advice? I strongly feel that I should listen to him, but in this case I feel the best thing for him to do is homeschool.

Going through the same thing here with my ds -- for the same reasons as you. My ds has been very clear that the reason that he wants to go back to school are for social reasons -- and I am fairly certain that they will not be able to meet his academic needs, so social will be the only thing he gets. We've talked about this, and he understands that he will not have the flexibility for independent learning like he does at home. He swears he is ok with this, and typically thinks through decisions like this, but I have serious doubts. I just think enough time has passed since he was in school that the bad memories have faded, and he's watched his sister go to K this year and have a great time. (Ironically, she is now talking about coming home to be homeschooled....)

I'll be interested in hearing any advice you get. Right now I'm asking ds to make a year commitment, but in the back of my mind I will pull him if he is unhappy and recognizes that HS better meets his needs. And I will also pull him if I start to get the phone calls from the school & have conferences that make my life miserable - pretty sure that you can relate to that.
