Is there a way of not having the photos show on every MDC page? I find that it really slow things down!

Are you talking about ads? Or smileys?
If ads then you can purchase an Supporting Member subscription. Details can be found here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions/payments.php
If you are talking about smileys, there isn't a specific way to turn them off - but you can turn off signature and avatars in the User CP, under Edit Options.

Also this allows you to off inline images though I don't see this much here (standard vBulletin fare):

No the ads are fine and the smileys are too. I'm talking about the photo for the member of the month and the moderator of the month. They slow things down incredibly. There aren't any photos at the moment, which is great. Is that going to change?
