Its usually not too big a deal for the first appointment. Lots of questions about both of your medical history, cycles etc. They will probably order blood tests for certain days, the HSG to check your uterus and fallopian tubes for blockages.

well, i saw my RE for the first time yesterday. i was really nervous. the did ask question on family history. then i had my first papsmear(it was uncomfortable)then i found out i cant use a known donor there. which broke mine and my dh heart. but we are looking for a RE who is able to do it. i feel alot safer and better about it. so, my first visit wasnt that bad. i gotta call my nurse when i start my period then she will tell me when to use lh test and order blood work to check protoserone levels. not looking forward to bloodwork but i gotta do what i gotta do. thanks lesliesara63. he said i didnt need to do the HSG since im healthy but it i dont get a bfp after 3 attempts then he would consider it

Congratulations on your first appointment

If you can't use DH's sperm and have a known donor in mind, you might want to look into having his donations banked now. My former RE would let patients use known donors, but the samples had to be quarantined for 6 months to ensure it's HIV negative.
