s/o: What's been your favourite/most used baby gift?

MIL has great taste in gifts. At XMas, she got DD/me a huge basket of handmade baby stuff that her friend makes: cloth wipes, sleep sacs, a bonding bunny, soother clips, tactile cloth toy (crinkly inside with different textured ribbon loops on the sides), scratch mitts, little hats, swaddling blanket, security blanket (which was so gorgeous I asked if she would make me a matching adult sized one ), a shopping cart cover with the same features as the tactile toy, nursing cover, Boppy slipcover, cloth nursing pads.. Even more that I can't remember right now. It was extravagant and gorgeous and so well thought out and the most appreciated baby gift in history, I think.

My aunt is a seamstress and she likes to make things for DD and I love her stuff too.

My best friend made a blanket for ds1's baby shower. She made it big enough to be usable by a bigger kid, and we still use it now that he's 5yo! He loves the fact that she made it for him
Also a couple baby hats and baby toys made by the same friend. I just feel good every time I use them, and they are beautiful to boot, yk?

A pack n play from the same friend. I wouldn't have bought one for myself, because ds1 never ever used his. But we've used it a ton for ds2.

Gift . . .a soft giraffe lovey blanket (it has a regular blanket sized mate) - DS loves to go to sleep with it.

something we used gift-card money on: a diaper caddy - we keep it in the living room, it holds a good supply of diapers, wipes, a changing mat, and a little drawer to keep lotion or ointment in. Even if you CD (I kind of wanted to, but DH built up this huge sposie stash that we've yet to run out of. It may last until DS is a year old) it would be handy. I plan on beating DH to the punch with the next baby and building up a CD stash instead

My in-laws send us baby clothing constantly. They buy it second hand (they're avid Goodwill shoppers) but only buy things that are cute and in great condition. It's WONDERFUL, and has meant that we have barely had to purchase any clothing for him.

My father bought us a car seat, which was the other best practical gift.

My favorite less practical gifts have been handmade things from a lot of our friends. One friend tie-dyed onesies for him (super cute), another knit little booties and a bib, another quilted us a baby blanket, another knit the softest most beautiful baby blanket, and my brother-in-law's co-worker (who we've never met, mind you! ha!) sewed us a blanket too.

ETA: and the toy gift we've gotten the most use out of: Fuzzy Bee, the cloth book!

But I think I like basically anything that shows that the gift giver really thought about us...

A friend gave me her old Brest Friend Nursing Pillow. And right now, it kind of is my best friend.

My mom gave me a massage.

This, except she loves the large one. We wanted to get another in case it gets lost or damaged, but those guys are expensive!

the most used is the practical stuff...a couple blankets....a muslin swaddle...

my favorites are the cute stuff...a knit cow rattle....her lamaze moose toy that she has loved in various different ways from birth to present at 8 mo. sometimes i think she loves that moose more than any of us...but we don't have crinkly feet and big plastic antlers to chew on so you really can't blame her.

This! Our little babe is only 11 days old right now so we spend a LOT of time nursing. We have a Boppy to and I like them both, but she naps great on the MBF pillow after a nursing session, and it's even possible to move with her to a different seat completely interrupted.

An acquaintance gave us a couple little organic cotton dolls plus a bar of imported castile bar soap when DS1 was born. That soap is what turned me on to making all of our own soap, so I really appreciate it now.

Haba discovery blocks from my dad to DS1 on his 1st birthday, now both kids use them a lot. Plan toys drum and instruments, ditto. Kozy Carrier also from my dad while I was pregnant with DS2, it's beautiful and useful. Basically he insists he must get us something and tells me to send him a link to whatever I want.

Radio Flyer All Terrain Cargo Wagon from FIL to both kids, DS2 rides in this all the time on walks ever since he could sit up well, DS1 too when he gets tired. It's also great for garden stuff and big shopping trips at the farmer's market, and to momentarily contain DS2 sitting still outside.

I got it used from a friend and I've used it to nurse both my kids. Plus they play on it too. IMO it's 100x comfier than a Boppy
