breastfed newborn poo question - help!

My midwife is at a birth, I don't want to call her right now...
My baby is 11 days old, and she's only pooped twice in two days...and just a little bit, about the size of a quarter. She is exclusively breastfed, on demand (and on the boob at least once an hour). She is peeing fine, soaking plenty of diapers, but no poo.
I know they digest a lot of breastmilk and don't poo so much, but is this okay, or should I be calling the pediatrician? She doesn't seem like she's straining or uncomfortable.

The infrequent poop is concerning in such a young baby. That combined with the feeding every hour suggests that perhaps your baby is having issues with milk transfer. I would suggest seeing an IBCLC if possible.

I would recommend getting hold of a reliable baby scale, and tracking baby's weight. In a baby younger than about 8 weeks, you really should be seeing multiple poops a day. It's older babies for whom infrequent poop is normal. It may be fine, but it may mean she's not transferring enough milk, and looking at weight gain is the best way to find out.

Thanks. She's been pooping three times a day for the past three days, but not as much as I'm used to seeing from my other two when they were this age. She is gaining weight fine, back up to birth weight...midwife is coming over Tuesday and she's an LC, hopefully we'll get this figured out.
